Steve went to Denver Seminary for three years and graduated with a Master of Divinity. Upon graduating he pastored a small church in Northern California for three years. followed by pastoring a church in San Jose for 12 years and then a church in Nashua, NH for 23 years. In 2019, Steve “semi-retired” and he and Nancy moved to Sun City West, AZ.

Steve wants to continue to serve God as a Pastor and coach/consultant. He enjoys cooking, reading, and would like to pick chess back up. He has been learning Spanish for 10 years, so this opportunity at FBC is a wonderful “classroom” with many maestros to learn from!

I have been married to Elda for 32 years, and we have two adult children. I have been a professor at the Nogales Baptist Seminary (Seminario Bautista de Nogales) in Nogales, Sonora for over 30 years and a pastor for 26 years in Nogales, Sonora and Nogales, AZ. I greatly enjoy gardening, fixing up my house, reading, teaching, counseling, and preaching, among other things. I also greatly enjoy being the pastor of the Hispanic congregation at FBC, Nogales. It is a great pleasure for me to serve our Lord in the ministry.

I have been married to Julie for 31 years. We have five daughters and one grandson. I have been on worship teams in one form or another since high school and teaching music in public schools for close to 30 years. This has opened the doors to participating in Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs at my school since 2008. Recently, I have recorded and released an album called the Race with a band called Dust to Heaven. All of my daughters are involved with the project in some form. Julie (the “Jefa” or CEO) and I also run the family ranch in Mexico.

My family and I have been attending First Baptist Church of Nogales for several years now. We recently committed to becoming members of the church and are now helping out in any way we can. It is a privilege to work at the front office. Greeting anyone who enters brings so much joy and I look forward to supporting others with anything I can.

This year, my amazing husband Mario Lopez and I will have been married 19 years. We have two teenage boys who keep us entertained and make us very proud. Our family is very close and enjoys doing many things together. Some of my hobbies are cooking, fixing up my house, gardening, taking nature walks, and being with family and friends.

We are so blessed in this community; and it is my ongoing prayer that everyone who either comes in once or has been here for years, feels the unconditional and abundant love God has for us.
